Shocking! Woman hospitalized after husband stuck rolling pin in her body

A 38-year-old woman in India almost died after her husband allegedly stuck a 40cm rolling pin inside her intestines as ‘punishment for being infertile’.
Accompanied by her husband, she was rushed to hospital in Haldwani, India in December 2016, after complaining of severe abdominal pains and swelling.
Doctors at the Dr Sushila Tiwari Government Medical College Hospital initially tried to x-ray the woman but nothing confirmed her injuries as wooden materials cannot be identified. Eventually a team of five doctors who operated on her discovered the rolling pin inside her intestines.

The hospital informed police and the National Commission for Women (NCW) after the women couldn’t elaborate on what happened.

Amita Lokhani, vice-chairperson of NCW, said:
‘The matter came to me a day after the operation. The woman was in a terrible condition when I first visited her. She was not only in pain but terrified to speak to anyone. I tried asking her what had happened but she did not say a word and kept crying. Her husband was present at the time. I continued visiting her for three days and eventually she opened up on the third day while her husband was away. She told me she was infertile and her husband often tortured her.’
Her husband who is now on the run, has been charged with rape and grievous bodily harm.

Read sad story of man whose wife was killed by heavy flood just 3 weeks after marriage

A man from Mpumalanga in South Africa who had been married for only three weeks to the love of his life is now planning to bury her.
On Saturday, January 7, 2017, late Angelina Msiza, the wife of Johannes Mlangeni who was travelling in a taxi was swept away by heavy flood in Kwaggafontein, Mpumalanga. In an attempt to rescue her from the taxi, a local fire-fighter from the Thembisile Hani Municipality also died.

Speaking to Sowetan Live, an emotional Johannes in tears shared the last moment he had with his wife and mother of their one-year-old daughter.
''It was around 8am when I accompanied her to catch a taxi to work. We were playing and joking and then I carried her on my back. We waited for a taxi which arrived
A few minutes later‚ I checked my phone and saw two missed calls from her. Seconds later‚ she phoned again‚ saying I must come quickly to pull them out. I didn't understand what she was saying and phoned her. That is when she cried and said they were stuck in the middle of a flooded bridge‚
Fire fighters arrived. Inside the taxi was my wife and the driver. I tried rescuing them but as I got closer to the vehicle‚ the water became too strong and pushed me back. I was angry with myself because I wanted to do all I could to save my wife and the driver.
My wife threatened to throw herself into the water but I stopped her. One fire fighter managed to rescue the driver but as he went in to try and save my wife‚ the water became too strong and swept him away.
I watched as the taxi was floating in the water with my wife inside‚ screaming for help. I ran next to it but there was nothing I could do as the water was too strong and high.
I have lost a wife and the mother of our young daughter aged a year and a half. She was my everything. We had many plans together. She was so happy. I would have asked her not to go to work if I had known what was going to happen.'

In June 2016, veteran Nollywood actor Jide Kosoko lost his third wife, Henrietta Kosoko after a brief battle with diabetes. In a recent interview with The Point, he narrated what actually led to her death saying,
‘Forget all those things you heard. She was ill. She died of complications that arose from diabetes. Honestly, my family, friends and colleagues stood by me and I appreciate that.
Of course, you will always have one or two persons, who would say one or two negative things. But you see, in my life, I have fought so many battles and I have won all. It is only people who want to be crushed that would confront me in war, because the Almighty God has His plans for me. It is just quite unfortunate that these things are happening to me, but I would still thank the Almighty God for everything. There are reasons for everything and I want to believe that it is natural’.
When asked if he’ll be taking a new wife, he said,
‘If at this age, I still think of taking a wife, when I have over a dozen children, it is madness. On January 12, I will be 63. I am taking care of some of the children, while others are now adults. She left and left me with two teenagers’.

Police arrest Redeemed pastor over burial of murdered boy

The police have arrested a cleric, Pastor Timothy Adigun, of the Redeemed Christian Church of God in Shere Koro, Bwari Area Council, Abuja, for allegedly assisting a couple, Mr. and Mrs. Olaoye, to bury a boy that died in their home.

The couple had reportedly fled with the body of Ayomide Samuel, who died at their residence in the Zone B area of the community on December 25 last year.

The primary four pupil was said to have given up the ghost after he was allegedly hit on the head with an object by the housewife on Christmas Day.

The police had embarked on a manhunt for the couple for fleeing with Samuel’s corpse after they were directed to report the incident at the Bwari Divisional Police Station.

A source who was familiar with the investigation told Northern City News that Pastor Adigun was arrested by the police for assisting the wanted couple to bury the deceased in an unmarked grave in Shere Koro at night.

It was gathered that the couple had earlier taken the corpse of the boy to a clinic, but the workers reportedly asked them to bring a police report before they would admit the body.

The source said, “The workers at the clinic refused to admit the body when they saw blood all over the vehicle. Mr. Olaoye then approached the Chief of Shere Koro community to purchase a piece of land for the burial of the boy, but the chief refused, so he contacted Pastor Adigun, one Kayode and two police officers who are members of the church to assist with the burial.”

But following rigorous investigation by the police, all the people that participated in the internment of the deceased were identified, leading to the arrest and detention of the cleric for allegedly leading the burial team.

The FCT Police Public Relations Officer, Manzah Anjuguri, confirmed that investigators had arrested Pastor Adigun for involvement in the illegal burial of little Samuel.

He added that efforts were ongoing to apprehend the couple who, he said, were the prime suspects in the homicide case.

“We have a suspect in custody in respect of the case; he assisted the couple to bury the deceased. The police are on the trail of the prime suspects, we are working hard to get them.”

13 Filling Stations sealed in Badagry for allegedly tampering with meters

No fewer than 13 filling stations in Badagry, Lagos State, have been sealed for allegedly tampering with their meters in order to cheat customers.

Punch Metro learnt that two Total filling stations, an MRS filling station and two Energy filling stations were allegedly involved in the act. Others are Dalco, Royal Stream, Lasbat, Ramos, JWMS, Jackos, Olubisi Obinja and NYBO filling stations.

The affected filling stations reportedly under-dispensed fuel between 0.4 and 1 litre in every 10 litres of petrol sold to unsuspecting members of the public.

They were sealed on Thursday by officials of the Department of Petroleum Resources backed up by operatives of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Lagos State Command.

A source told our correspondent on Sunday that the command had received reports from some customers, lamenting that the fuel sold to them at the filling stations did not commensurate with the amount they paid.

“But because the NSCDC does not have the power to seal filling stations, the DPR was informed about what was going in the filling stations. On Thursday, two NSCDC teams gave DPR officials security back-up to the Badagry area.

“It was discovered that 13 filling stations dispensed fuel below the standard metering. They have been sealed up and their owners have several questions to answer before the DPR,” the source added.

A member of the team that carried out the operation told PUNCH Metro on condition of anonymity that the stations manipulated their meters, thinking nobody would know.

“The filling stations are on the outskirts; so the operators were cashing in on the location to perpetrate the act,” he said.

The state commandant of the NSCDC, Tajudeen Balogun, said the corps would continue to fight every manifestation of crime in the state and provide necessary support to sister agencies.

He said, “We got information that some filling stations were under-dispensing, which means that if you pay for 10 jerrycans of fuel, what you eventually get is about eight jerrycans. We did further investigation and confirmed that it was true. By the law, it is the DPR that normally seals up filling stations.

“We contacted the DPR and gave them security back-up to Badagry. Two Total and Energy filling stations were sealed up. Others were Dalco MRS, Royal Stream, Lasbat, Ramos, JWMS, Jackos, Olubisi Obinja and NYBO filling stations. They have been sealed up by the DPR working in conjunction with the NSCDC.”

The DPR Zonal Director, Mr. Wole Akinsoye, who confirmed the sealing, promised to get back to our correspondent with details of the operation.

“The extent of the under-dispensing in those filling stations ranges from 0.4 to 1 per 10 litres. Any filling station that under-dispenses will be closed down because that is clear cheating,” he added.
